How to Buy a Chandelier

Here are all the details you’ll need so you can buy the right chandelier for you and your home:

  • Chandelier size – Determining Chandelier width and height:Lighting 3
    • Measure the length and width of the room in feet
      • Length + Width = the most appropriate chandelier width in inches
        • For example, if your room is 10 ft. x 12 ft., that would 10+12 = 22. The diameter of your chandelier should be 22 inches.
      • Small room: 13-22” wide
      • Medium room: 23”-30” wide
      • Large room: 31” wide or larger
  • Figure out the height – measure the height of the room in feet, then multiply by 3. This will give you the most appropriate chandelier height in inches.
    • Keep in mind that the chandelier needs to be in scale and proportion to room furnishings.
